Presentation Day - 48 Hour Animation Challenge 2024

Above is the 30-second animated short film that I and a team of 4 other college students created in the span of 48 hours for a hosted club event for Purdue's Animation Club: the "48 Hour Animation Challenge." The rules of the club challenge are the same as the rules for Toon Boom's 24 Hour Animation Challenge, but with an extra day. We were given a prompt at the start of the 48 hours, and developed the entirety of the storyline and animation as a team. I was the lead character designer and lead cleanup artist. Our prompt was: "finding calm within the chaos."

This project features the work of myself along with Purdue students Andy Sliwa, Isabelle Blackburn, Ed Anderson, and Jacob Alexander, with the support of Professor Nasheet Zaman.

Characters: Lucy

While I was the person who created Lucy’s ref sheet, the credit of her design should go to everyone, as we all pitched in ideas for her attributes. We began adopting the concept of "triangles" as the recurring motif for her design because the shape language of triangles symbolizes "instability" within a character.

Rough Animation + Cleanup

As lead cleanup artist, I both cleaned rough animations and helped to establish a cohesive animation vision for the creative direction of the project by working with my teammates and giving advice.
