Trashcan: 24 Hour Animation Challenge 2022
Above is the 30-second animated short film I and a team of 4 other college students created in a 24 hour time frame for the 2022 ToonBoom 24 Hour Animation Challenge. We were given a prompt at the start of the 24 hours, and developed the entirety of the storyline and animation as a team. I was the lead character designer, as well as a rough animator and cleanup artist. The prompt was "our prediction of life 100 years in the future."
For our story, we decided to have a cat be our main character, exploring a futuristic world looking for food. We wanted to portray that despite big technological advances and other changes that could possibly happen in the future, that some things (or some kitties) stay the same. This project features the work of myself along with Purdue students Paige Kuper, Andy Sliwa, Mickenzie Randle, and Liam Miller, with the support of Professor Derek Larson. Out of almost 300 teams all around the world, our team placed 46th in the contest.
